Are You Related to the Royal Family? Find Out Through GenealogyWishful thinking is what they call this activity. Of course, royalties would not easily accept claims of people. But still, several still would like to establish their ancestors' links to royal families. Are you related to the royal family? The answer would often be no. But who knows? You might be. To appease your curiosity, it is high time you embark on an effort to trace back the recorded history of your family using genealogy. What is genealogy? Genealogy is that particular term used to refer to the study of descents of ancestors. The initiative would not be too tedious and would not be too complicated, if you would only stick to the records. Of course, you know that through time, governments and societies have been keeping civil registry records of existing people. These records are essential to future references. Retrieving such records, however, would not be easily done. It would be fast, but there are instituted safeguards that would prevent you from easily getting access to such information. Requesting data from your local or national archive or civil registry office would be tedious because you would be required to state your intention for doing so. Legal impediments are also instituted for protection not just of the records, but also of people. Non-formal genealogic process If your grand parents or great grand parents are still living, then, it is time you interview them about family history. No other process can be better and easier than that. But if the old relatives are already deceased, and you are still itching to find out more about your ancestors and family history, then it is time to resort to other processes that are credible and useful. The Mormon's Family History Library If you are aiming to create your own family tree, you may seek the help of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or more known as Mormons. Mormon church is a religion, but for people who want to make use of the church facilities, particularly the genealogy database, it is not required that you become a member first. Mormon's Family History Library is a search database containing name entries from recorded data decades, or even centuries ago. All you have to do to make use of the service is to approach the nearest Mormon church to you. You would be asked to shed out a little amount for the data retrieval initiative. Family History Library's International Genealogical Index (IGI) would ask you to fill out a search form. Initially, you would be asked to state the family name and the perceived origin of your ancestors. In a matter of seconds, the database would give you data about names and specific place of origin. The Family History Library information is not limited to United States records. If your ancestors can be traced back to other countries, especially in England, it would be indicated. The service can also be done online. Just log in to the Mormon Web site and click the LDS Family Search button. The process goes on: you would be asked to fill out forms and search results would be immediately flashed on the screen. In establishing links to the royal families, it is imperative that you do the process twice and make sure all the data you enter are concise. It is exciting to be genetically linked to royal blood, but if you are not, there is nothing you can do about it. Comments |
